Love to hear from Charley! Always excited to continue to hear what comes next from him. But, and I really don’t mean to sound harsh or I am absolutely not trying to be some negative person in the comments, I say this with peace and love: can we please not have the person conducting the interview be a drunken mess? This guy is noticeably wasted to the point of distraction from the interview. And it’s that ‘end of the night drunk’ every bar tender has heard at 1:30am. Some of the slurring is so bad I can barely understand what he is saying, or he’s so wasted that his hand is over his mouth as he tries to conduct the interview and he’s basically just a sloppy mess. I really like interviews like this with people like Charley, but can we please show a little bit more respect from the person conducting the interview. Is the reflective of Sunset Sound? Drew, get it together!

I have the ultimate respect for him. He also has had the same wife all these years. After all these years of traveling he still is interested in every place he visits. I quit partying 33 years ago and lost mostly all my friends. I live around Milwaukee and not drinking is social suicide. Lee was born here but moved when he was 4 to LA area. Most rockers convey the image of being wild partiers but it i a serious business.

Amazing to realize when things were WRITTEN vs released. UTCM music played (i think) pre PR release (summer 84?) And its clearly fleshed out already. Reminding us that he didnt REALLY have TIME periods in the way we think of them. He simply put them together to fit style of record. He was incredibly diverse at STYLE. I can only tell WHEN by the equipment used. And even then no guarantee of timeframe. Best who has EVER been

OK you've managed to make me tear up and make my bottom lip tremble. It's hearing unearthed gems like this, that really reminds me just how much I miss Prince. If you listen to this loud in a room by yourself with your eyes closed, you can almost visualise Prince sitting at the piano, eyes shut and drawing on personal/life experiences, painful, happy and letting them out while playing and when he's done he stands up with a clear and focused mind (and Peggy in the booth doing her thing.) Well, that's what I imagine anyway ......
